Gastro Oncocon 2019 is conducted under the auspices of Apollo Cancer Hospitals, Visakhapatnam, Gut club and Gastro-Intestinal Surgeons Association of Vizag on 24th November at Hotel Novotel. The main agenda of the meeting is to discuss and hear the opinion of leading doctors in managing various types of cancers affecting the Liver, pancreas and gastrointestinal tract. Medical Oncologists, Surgical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Gastroenterologists, Gastro Surgeons, Radiologists and Pathologists of international repute have addressed the gathering. With the incidence of cancers going up day by day, this meeting has given new insights into various challenges faced by treating doctors. Apollo Hospitals has said that nearly 150 doctors have participated in this event.

 A named oration in memory of legendary Gastroenterologist late. Dr. P. Muralikrishna who died of cancer is being started from this year in this meeting. Dr. P. Ravimohan, Chief Consultant Oncologist, Bahrain had given the oration this year. Dr. A. Praveen, Consultant Medical Oncologist and organising secretary of the conference said that this conference will be conducted every year to understand and discuss the latest developments and treatment modalities in cancer management so that it will be beneficial for the patients suffering from cancer. Dr Muralidhar, Surgical Gastroenterologist has stated that the scientific meeting was awarded 2 credit hours by the APMC. Dr Suman Das, organizing chairman has said that cancer awareness is increasing day by day and Vizag today is no less when compared to other cities of the country in terms of facilities available for cancer treatment.  He also said now we are equipped with latest technologies to fight cancer in Visakhapatnam.
